Terms of Use

We try to keep our house rules as brief and humanly readable as possible. Here they are:

  • When you are using aolib.com, you are bound by these rules whether or not you are a registered user. If you do not agree with anything in these rules, please stop using aolib.com immediately.
  • Our house rules may change in the future. Therefore, we suggest that you visit and read this page once in a while.
  • We respect your privacy. Entire aolib.com site, including user databases, is hosted on secure servers in the United States of America. We will take every effort to keep submitted private information secure, and will not disclose it unless given court order.
  • You agree to use aolib.com for lawful purposes only, in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else's use and enjoyment of aolib.com. In plain English: IF, for example, you launch a DoS attack on aolib.com so that others cannot use its great books and dictionary for free, THEN YOU SUCK and must go to hell and never come to this planet again.
  • Entire site contents and functionality is provided on the "as is" basis, without any and all guarantees whatsoever, express or implied, including, but not limited to, fitness for any particular purpose (we are quite sure you knew this was coming).
  • You agree that aolib.com site name, logo and design, support code, categorization and rendering of the contents is sole intelectual property of aolib.com. You agree not to reverse-engineer the code, or copy or adopt it or its portions, or copy or adopt site design or its essential elements.
  • Large portion of the textual content used in the making of aolib.com is free, but its distribution is still governed by respective licenses. We strictly follow them, and provide links to sources, authors, and/or licenses whenever appropriate (even if it's not required). For instance, if you click on book title while reading the book in our Reader, you will get to the book information page, which not only contains full license, but also lists the names of all the good people who took part in the making of the electronic version of the book if such information was available to us. You agree to honor these licenses too.

Aolib.com is not associated, in any way whatsoever, with AOL.com.

Finally, as you probably know by now, the main idea behind aolib.com is to help people learn English in a new and exciting way and thus help them understand each other better. What is ultimate understanding? In our opinion, it is reached when people agree not to do to others what they would not have liked if it was done to themselves. Please think about it while using aolib.com... and, hopefully, afterwards.
