We try to keep our house rules as brief and humanly readable as possible. Here they are:
Aolib.com is not associated, in any way whatsoever, with AOL.com.
Finally, as you probably know by now, the main idea behind aolib.com is to help people learn English in a new and exciting way and thus help them understand each other better. What is ultimate understanding? In our opinion, it is reached when people agree not to do to others what they would not have liked if it was done to themselves. Please think about it while using aolib.com... and, hopefully, afterwards.
The built-in dictionary used by aolib.com is a compilation of several dictionaries, including our own, developed from scratch. As of today, aolib.com dictionary is largerly based on the 2006 version of WordNet, with many entries augmented with definitions (for articles, prepositions, exclamations, contractions, and other parts of speach not found in WordNet) taken from the 1913 edition of Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary.
We would like to once again point out that, even though source texts for the large portion (but not all) of our dictionary is in public domain, the particular rendering of them found on aolib.com in not.
